Setting up a Mini Box is relatively simple, though you will need to have your existing Sky Q box or router close by. When prompted to select 8-bit, 10-bit or Find it for me, select Find it for me to find the right setting for your TV. Sadly, while you can force a Mini box to join your home wireless network it can only do so on the 2.4GHz band, which isn’t fast enough for streaming live TV, so don’t do this. In most cases, then, if you get connectivity problems on a Sky Q Mini box, it’s because of interference on the 5GHz network, although 2.4GHz interference can cause problems. Knowing that, the answer to the problem is to avoid interference. Here are the steps you can take. Change your router’s Wi-Fi channel Plug in your replacement Sky Q box using the new power and HDMI cables provided, and your existing dish cables:
As it stands, the only way to use wireless is to use the Sky Q wireless mesh as set up during installation. This has both a 2.4GHz and a 5GHz network. In most cases, the 2.4GHz network is used to provide a wireless hotspot if you have Sky broadband, but it can also be used for TV data sent to the Mini boxes. Actual streaming takes place over the 5GHz network, as this has the required bandwidth.SparkyOnTv said:Five stars?!? Really?! As good as television gets?!? Bullsh*t. Using the Mini boxes is almost identical to using the main one. The UI is the same, it gives you access to anything on the main machine's hard drive or watch live TV. It helps to understand why your Sky Q box is not designed to work with a single cable. The first Sky boxes could be operated fine with a single cable and a second cable only become required with Sky+ and Sky+HD which allowed you to pause and rewind the TV and schedule and store recordings to an internal hard disk drive. The original one is at the top of the box and the circular cable is on the left side of the box. The circular cable is like an adapter which first goes into the 2TB box and the normal cable then goes into the adapter. Don't know why Sky have done it like this. You could get them to leave your existing cables as is and just route the new power and HDMI cables outside of the TV stand during the install so that they can sign off that everything is fitted as per their requirements and in a working state. I have a Sky Q router which I would like to place in a different position to improve my wifi signal around the house. Tenet is one such 4K title and it looks sensational, with oodles of detail, crisp definition and enticing three-dimensionality. The HDR ensures there's plenty of pop and vibrancy, too.As you can see, the latter two options use 40MHz channel width, which is effectively half the bandwidth of the 80MHz default. This reduces the chance of interference, though, so it might work for you. Get a Sky Q Booster The extension cable would work (and I have one of those) but it they don't look great laying along the edge of the carpet/wall. I was hoping to hide the cable under the carpet.
Volume seems to be well standardised across the channels, so you don’t have to keep reaching for the remote whenever you switch over. The quality of the sound you’ll get from Sky Q depends largely on what you plug it into, but it supports Dolby Digital and Dolby Atmos, and can output to a 5.1 surround sound system or soundbar over HDMI or optical cable.Step 3:You must find and press the WPS button on your main Sky Q product or router, such as your Sky Q Hub or main Sky Q Box. This should be a physical button that can easily be found and pressed with your finger.
