About this deal

How to use the Power Pumping feature– first switch on the Ardo Alyssa, then tap the automatic Power Pumping button. The Ardo Alyssa is a pump with some truly revolutionary and awesome features, but there are some significant downsides to it as well. Here is an upfront Ardo Alyssa review. Power pumping is a method recommended by health care experts to increase the amount of milk and to stabilize fluctuating amounts of milk.

Unfortunately, it was not the pump for me, but it could be for someone else. I definitely think it could be a great pump to help direct feeders increase supply with the ease of the power pumping setting and for more occasional or less frequent use. In contrast, there are some people who need to crank their Spectra pumps up to Level 12 vacuum (the highest setting) and some people who respond very well to that long pull of the Baby Buddha pump. The Alyssa could be a great option for occasional or less frequent pumpers. It could also work reasonably well for those who use more gentle suction. What features does the Ardo Alyssa have? The Alyssa has been designed for the suction power (mmHg) to not decrease when you double pump. (Bear in mind the mmHg is quite low to start with.) To go into the automatic power pumping setting you press the button at the top right with 3 droplets increasing in size and an arrow above them. This is admittedly a nice-to-have rather than must have but the Ardo Alyssa is the first breast-pump in the world with automatic power pumping which imitates the natural breastfeeding pattern of “cluster-feeding” which leads to an increase in milk production. The Alyssa's compact size and USB rechargeable integrated battery allow for maximum mobility, meaning the breastpump can be used anywhere, at any time. However, it is my opinion that to exclusively pump you need a powerful motor with the suction power of over 300mmHg. That’s not to say I love everything about this pump. It’s a little bit noisy, the buttons can be either really sensitive or don’t work at times, and there’s no way to manually program the pump in the app – you have to run an actual pumping session and then save it to the memory. That means there are always a few annoying seconds at the beginning of my programmed settings where I was adjusting the pump, instead of it doing exactly what I want every time. I normally would give a breast pump a solid month before reviewing, due to the typical adjustment period, but Alyssa has blown my expectations out of the water, within the week and a half that I have owned it. I don’t want this amazing pump to sit without the review that it deserves another day!

The automatic Power Pumping of the Alyssa is a predefined one-hour interval pumping consisting of three pumping phases and two pause phases. While the duration of the pumping and pausing phases is predefined, you can adjust the vacuum and cycle settings to your personal needs at any time. The layout of the touchpad is mirrored quite closely in the MyArdo App. You can alter all these aspects in the MyArdo app and on the pump. Battery life How could I forget about sound! It is sooo quiet. I pump in a restroom (by choice) at work and the pump is hardly discernable over the fan. The Power Pumping button will light up to show you which phase you are in, you also can see a live countdown of each phase which is shown below the battery light. The only negative I have is the power button. I without a doubt accidentally turn the pump on every time I move it. I need to train myself to hold the pump differently. The buttons are a touch and hold which took a second to figure out but I love knowing that it won’t turn on accidentally in my bag. I agree that you should only put vacuum up to what’s comfortable for you. And stronger settings and certain powerful pumps will not be suitable for everyone. What is needed for exclusive pumping?

What is power pumping?– it is based on a baby cluster feeding at the breast, this is when a baby has lots of feeds spaced closely together. Power Pumping mimics this pattern, which helps to increase the milk supply. Power Pumping may also help trigger more letdowns. When you press the button with the droplets on it (3 on top, 2 underneath) it changes to expression mode, signaled by 2 droplets. Adjust settings

How should you use the Ardo Alyssa?

It is visually clear and uses bars to indicate increase or decrease in cycle or vacuum as opposed to numbers. (This could be preferred by some. Personally, I prefer some numbers and some visuals.) What’s in the box? If you’d like to save a new Memory Plus session, press the ‘save’ icon, which looks like a floppy disc/the symbol on Microsoft Word. This is absolutely the best pump I’ve ever used. Within just two days, I noticed a huge increase in the amount I was able to pump (I was six weeks postpartum and was pumping about 3 ounces maximum, but this went up to seven ounces!) This was without even using the power pumping feature, which I tried out to boost my evening milk supply. My baby was fussy and hungry every hour in the evenings for a while making me think my milk supply was low – I used the power pumping feature for three nights at 6pm and noticed a huge difference even between the three days. It has been two weeks and my supply is still plentiful at night!

It comes with 26/22mm flanges and membrane caps (I have 15mm Maymom inserts in to size my flanges down), two bottles, a charger, bottle stands, 4 sets of valves, pump unit, tubes. However, the fact is I don’t believe it is sufficient for exclusive pumping. If you are someone who knows you respond better to less powerful pumps like the Medela Freestyle Flex pump, and have exclusively pumped with pumps with a similar motor life/power, then it could work well for you. For the Scottish Highland areas, this may be a 2/3-day delivery. AB31 – AB35, AB41 – AB54, AB36 – AB38, AB55 – AB56, FK17 – FK21, IV1 – IV63, KA27, KA28, KW0 – KW14, PA20 – PA78, PH15 – PH18, PH19 – PH29, PH32 – PH33, PH45 – PH48, PH30 – PH31, PH34-44, PH49 – PH50. 2-4 Days: KW15 – KW17HS1 – HS9ZE1 – ZE3. We used a noise meter in our lab tests to measure the volume for each breast pump set at the highest setting and pressed against the skin. While our mom testers were split right down the middle, reporting that the breast pump was either very quiet or somewhat loud, the Ardo Calypso Double Plus Breastpump is actually one of the quietest pumps we've tested (and we've tested most available in Canada). All but one parent tester reported that they were able to comfortably pump in the same room as a sleeping baby or partner without waking them up. The closed-system pump provides maximum protection, ensuring a barrier against pathogens for your breastmilk.

making pumping easier

It also has an automated power pumping feature which you can initiate through the app and the touchpad. It is the first pump to have this feature. This could be great for occasional pumpers if they need help increasing their supply. If you are considering getting a pump that is effective, easy to use and assemble, innovative, like no other, please look no further, Alyssa is the perfect personal pumping assistant! Does it work with the MyArdo App? yes, you can control the automatic Power Pumping feature via the MyArdo app!
