The return of Mercedes to Grand Prix racing at the French Grand Prix in 1954 caused a sensation. Two of their cars, under the control of Alfred Neubauer took the first two places. The eventual winner, Juan Fangio, is shown leading his team mate Karl Kling who is overtaking the Ferrari 553 Squalo of Jose Gonzales. In the background, the third Mercedes car of Hans Herrmann negotiates the Thillois corner.
